We are currently working with a leading digital media solutions company that requires a Head of Digital, to join its London based team, on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing technical staff within Broadcast and VOD Mastering Services, including Digital Mastering and Data I/O teams, and ensuring the smooth running of the entire department.
As Head of Digital, you will be required to provide strong leadership and staff direction and will act as the main point of contact for the department and address questions from staff and clients regarding technical specifications. An important part of this role will be to represent and uphold all department policies and procedures and maintain an exceptional level of service across digital services.
Your duties will include working closely with the Director of Operations to implement procedures, monitoring Xytech to make sure that work is assigned and deadlines are met, including resolving deadline related issues, and ensuring that operating overheads are managed and utilisation of equipment is maximised. You will also have the responsibility of recruiting, managing and planning staffing and capacity and carrying out staff performance appraisals and 1-2-1 meetings.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have a proven background in processing and delivering content to major platforms such as Netflix, iTunes and international broadcasters, along with experience of managing a team. Experience using tools to create captions and subtitles for VOD platforms is also required and it is important that you have a technical background and in-depth understanding of V/A compression, mastering techniques, metadata standards and schemas for all major VOD platforms and broadcasters (DPP).
A strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer is required, along with strong analytical skills, including experience in reporting systems, data gathering and data management. It is also essential that you are fully conversant in editing, transcoding, subtitling and QC of both film and television material.
