We are currently working with a large, independent audiobook company based in the East Midlands that has an excellent permanent opportunity for an Assistant Acquisitions Editor.
In this role, you will be responsible for pro-actively seeking and acquiring audio rights from literary agents, authors and publishers whilst developing strong business relationships with them and pitching the company and its products to develop a profitable publishing programme.
As Assistant Acquisitions Editor you will create profit and loss forecasts to evaluate opportunities and performance, negotiate profitable deals and contract details, write copy and proof-read cover blurbs, promotional material, newsletters, emails and websites when required.
Other duties will include overseeing creative processes such as casting of actors to read the books and cover artwork, attending and arranging appointments for book fairs, presenting titles externally to retailers including creating commercial pitches on PowerPoint and merchandising placements on third party websites.
Working with the Marketing team, you will also develop ideas for content promotions, offers and PR and will work with the international team to support global publishing needs and world rights.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a keen interest and passion for books with some previous experience in a PR, marketing or sales related role with strong business skills. You must have commercial awareness and strong communication skills to build good relationships and regularly negotiate and pitch for books. Organisational skills are also key in order to meet deadlines for publications.
