A successful online entertainment company has a fantastic opportunity for an Encoding Engineer to join its team, on an initial 12 month fixed-term contract, based in Germany.
In this role you will take technical responsibility for the successful delivery of broadcast signals to worldwide distribution partners and the quality of video and audio streams at all times. As the Encoding Engineer will maintain and improve internal IT networks to enable the transfer of content between departments and work at events, to ensure that broadcast productions undergo successful transmission. This will include the testing of transport stream signals and analysing the performance of their existing infrastructure. You will work with business partners to troubleshoot any issues with live feeds and fixed / mobile encoding systems and be responsible for the swift resolution of any faults during live events.
Applicants should be passionate about broadcast technologies and have a thorough understanding of the components of digital video and audio encoding. You should have a strong knowledge of industry standards such as DVB, MPEG, SMPTE, RTMP and DASH and be comfortable supporting and configuring systems for IP streaming platforms. You should also have strong IT networking knowledge that includes the principles of multicasting and video over IP, with any exposure to video transport over fibre infrastructure being highly advantageous.
Exposure to a live sports environment would be preferred, as would an understanding of eSports and online gaming.
