We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Broadcast Engineer to join an international entertainment technology company, on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, based in Germany.
In this role you will take charge of a team of Broadcast Engineers and be responsible for the technical delivery of the facility’s broadcast productions. As Lead Broadcast Engineer you will act as a point of technical escalation for both colleagues and clients, as well as providing input to broadcast projects including planning, reporting and budgeting. You should have the ability to train and supervise other Engineers within the team and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Candidates should have a proven background in live broadcast engineering, with a strong understanding of video routing, encoding and decoding. This will include experience of transmitting video signals, both compressed and uncompressed, through fibre, terrestrial satellite and IP-based distribution networks, complemented by an understanding of IP networking principles such as subnetting and routing. You will be familiar with working on Windows, Mac and Linux systems at the command line interface, to create and support complex IT-based systems.
You should also be comfortable in preparing a studio broadcast environment for live production. Experience of working with live sports content would be highly beneficial, as would experience in / a passion for eSports and online gaming.
This role will also provide the opportunity to travel and represent the company at various international trade shows and exhibitions, so candidates must be willing to show a flexible approach to their working schedule.
