We are currently working with a leading digital sports content company that has a very exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join its team based in West London.
As a Linux Systems Engineer you will be working alongside systems engineering and DevOps teams across Europe and the US, and will be responsible for deploying, configuring and supporting the continuous operation of Linux platforms, server infrastructure and solutions, working with cutting-edge technologies such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Xen.
Candidates will ideally have a degree in Computer Science or related subject or similar qualification or equivalent industry experience, with strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and the ability to work at command line level, carry out bash or shell scripting and use configuration management tools.
A solid understanding of IT networking principles and troubleshooting skills are also required, along with familiarity with NFS, DNS / BIND, Sendmail, ProFTP / SFTP and experience of SAN / NAS devices such as NetApp.
Any additional experience of DevOps methodologies such as Puppet or Ansible would be highly advantageous, as would experience of AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Xen virtualisation platforms, including Xen Server administration. Experience of Tomcat, Java, J2EE or PHP application administration and an understanding of unit testing and deployment using tools such as Jenkins would also be beneficial.
Applicants must also have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to explain technical solutions at all levels.
